Instructions
- Weigh-off all ingredients, add sugar to your slightly heated milk (30 sec in the microwave should do!) and then add your yeast to the milk, stir and leave.
- Add all ingredients to either of the following; A) Use a table top mixer and mix on a medium speed for 7-12 minutes until the dough is smooth, has some stretch, and knocks off the side of the bowl. B) Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix by hand until combined. Move the mixture onto a floured surface and knead for about 15 minutes until the dough is smooth and has some stretch. C) In a bread maker, use your machine's dough/pizza setting.
- Once mixed, set aside and cover for 45 minutes to 1 hour until doubled in size.
- After your initial proof, knock the dough back, roll it onto a floured surface, and knead it into a ball. Divide the ball into four equal portions.
- Use a rolling pin and roll your dough ball into a triangle. Place on a baking tray and cover with some slightly heated Nutella (2 x 10-second blasts in the microwave, stirring each time). Do the same for each dough ball, layering your triangles on top of each other until the last, where you will add no Nutella.
- Tidy up your triangle by cutting out the shape of your Christmas tree.
- Mark your centre line down the tree, where the trunk would run up the middle, and cut from there to each end of your tree, moving up around an inch every time.
- Twist each ‘branch’ around twice and make your way up the tree; you may only get one turn at the top.
- Cover with a damp cloth & preheat your oven to 180 degrees
- Once the oven has preheated, add a little milk to your egg whites. Using a pastry brush, brush lightly over your whole tree. This will help give it a nice golden colour.
- Bake for 15 mins
- Give your tree that "Wow" using your favourite Rainbow Dust & Squires Kitchen products.
